The Łękuk Grange is situated in the heart of Wild Masuria, at the edge of the Borecka Forest where, according to a report by the Polish Institute of Environmental Protection, you can breathe the cleanest air in Poland.
Back in 1707, when Wilhelm Fleischer built the first wooden manor house in Łękuk, next door stood the murmuring original Borecka Forest, full of wild animals headed by the king of the forest – the wisent. Today, after more than 300 years, we can still admire these marvelous animals, watch white eagles high up in the sky, and breathe the cleanest air. With a bit of luck, we can have an encounter with extremely rare animals, such as wolves and even lynxes. The Borecka Forest is a bird sanctuary in an Nature 2000 area – there are as many as 139 different bird species nesting here. From the nearby fields and meadows, we can hear the clangor of cranes, and the rattling of our Łękuk storks is one of the nicest sounds heard just as you wake up…
The Łękuk Grange sits in Wild Masuria – close to Giżycko, but still far from the busy world. The region is well preserved, with red-tiled roofs, cobbled roads, and the scent of freshly-cut grass. Masuria without kebab kiosks, stalls with plastic souvenirs, or quad bike noise.
Most windows are overlooking Lake Łękuk and the Borecka Forest.
From the Fire and Water restaurant terrace – a perfect place to savor the taste of coffee and admire the daily spectacle of the sunset – you can walk down to the beach and immerse yourself in water.
We are trying to fully (albeit with due care for the environment!) use the riches of nature. When preparing meals for our guests, we use products from our own farm or buy them from local farmers. We use, for example, ecological fruit, vegetables, and herbs grown in our garden, cold pressed oil from our own rapeseed, and honey produced by bees collecting nectar from the nearby meadows. Our neighbors provide us with fresh fish, cow milk, delicious farm cheese, eggs from village hens, dandelion syrup, and mushrooms and blueberries from the Forest. The Łękuk rapeseed oil, honey, and herbs are also used for treatment and massage in our SPA.
To us, the trendy word “wellness” means much more than just soaking in bubbles. Guests come to Łękuk to regain their vitality. To get away from it all – the busy city life, traffic jams and stress, to take a look within themselves, and to heal the soul and the body. There is something in the air, the landscape and the people here: after a few hours, it makes you walk more slowly, look around more carefully, and soak up the nature with all your senses.
Some people achieve this state of bliss in our baths, massaged after spending a busy day cycling or running a few kilometers through the wild forest; others need to swim in the lake and relax on the beach. There are also guests who need conversation and attention more than anything. They are free to choose what they need the most.
In Łękuk Grange we offer:
– Healthy air (more than 4 times less benzo[a]pyrene than in Warsaw, 12 times less than in Kraków, and 15 times less than in Zakopane*
– Healthy food (own eco vegetables and herbs, eggs from village hens, cow milk, farm cheese from our neighbors, fresh fish, honey from the Łękuk beehives, own cold pressed rapeseed oil) – all this just-made according to traditional recipes
– Relaxation massages and face and body treatments to make you feel better and youngr
– Time to heal and enrich family relations and make new friendships (in Łękuk, many neighbors in the same settlement, who used to pass each other in the street indifferently, have become good acquaintances)
