There is one small problem with the phrase “holiday in wild nature”. It sometimes sounds suspiciously like wet socks, uncomfortable beds and coffee made over a camping stove. We like wild nature. We also like good mattresses.
At Folwark Łękuk, a day outdoors can end with a massage, sauna, steam bath, outdoor jacuzzi or a session in our Russian Banya overlooking the lake. After several hours in the forest you can return to a comfortable room and have dinner at Ogień i Woda Restaurant, where regional Masurian flavours meet contemporary European cooking.
Wildlife in the morning. SPA in the afternoon. Wine and dinner overlooking the lake in the evening. We see no reason to choose between nature and comfort.
A family coolcation in Europe
For families, cooler summer destinations have another advantage: children can actually be outside. And there is plenty of outside here. The beach, lake, playground, sports fields, bikes, kayaks, SUPs, balls, forest trails and 18 hectares of grounds make it possible to spend much of the holiday away from screens.
During the summer holidays we also organise a programme of family activities, creative workshops, nature experiences, outdoor games and expeditions. Some children return with something they have made. Others return covered in mud. Both usually mean the workshop was successful.There is also a children’s menu in our restaurant and selected SPA treatments for younger guests. Because a good family holiday in Poland should include adventures for children and moments when their parents can finish a cup of coffee while it is still warm.
Into the Borecka Forest
The Borecka Forest is one of the reasons we believe Folwark Łękuk is different from many other lake hotels in Europe.
This is not simply a picturesque patch of woodland around a resort. It is a large and ecologically valuable forest complex inhabited by wild animals, including European bison.
And we do not treat it merely as scenery. Together with experienced naturalists and guides, we organise guided wildlife trips, animal tracking expeditions, forest bathing and nature walks.
You learn to look differently. A footprint in the mud is no longer just a footprint. A broken branch means something.
So does a feather, a sound in the trees or a trail disappearing between the ferns.

Winter can be one of the best times for tracking, because snow records the night shift of the Borecka Forest better than any camera. Spring is loud, wet, green and intensely alive.
